THIS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OPPORTUNITY
Are you inspired to change the world by introducing students to science and technology through robotics? If so, we have just the opportunity for you! Oregon Robotics Tournament and Outreach Program (ORTOP) is looking for their next Executive Director. As the leader of the organization, you will be responsible for developing a collaborative team and driving the execution of our program – bringing opportunities in STEM to students throughout Oregon, especially those from communities that have been historically underserved and underrepresented in STEM.

This is an exciting opportunity to build your team and further activate an organization with a few thousand volunteers to welcome, engage, educate, and inspire Oregon’s youth and their diverse communities. The Executive Director will energize ORTOPs community connections and translate vision to action that engages the entire STEM ecosystem.

This position requires regular in-person presence in the Portland Area and periodic travel throughout Oregon. Staff currently work from home when not onsite for events.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCES, and CAPACITIES

High Energy, Engaged Leader – Build and develop the ORTOP team and inspire our community through the highest work ethic. You have a passion for impact and excellence and the leadership skills to help us achieve the organization’s goals.

Effectively Represent ORTOP – Engage the community around the work of ORTOP; expand awareness and grow the impact of ORTOP across the state with sponsors, teams, and volunteers.

Fund Development – Grow and optimize resources by effectively building relationships with stakeholders, sponsors, volunteers, and partner organizations. Apply your knowledge of grants and funding sources to expand opportunities for those underserved and underrepresented in STEM.

Teamwork and Inclusion – Demonstrate a personal commitment and enthusiasm to building a sense of belonging among staff, volunteers, and participants. You envision all youth achieving the benefits of participating in hands-on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics activities.

Operations – You understand and are diligent about processes and systems to effectively run and ensure the continuity of a nonprofit organization (including administrative, financial, legal, etc.).

Desired Education and Skills:
• Strong collaboration and communication skills
• Demonstrated skills in staff mentorship and team building
• Experience in budgeting and nonprofit financial management
• Fundraising experience including donor cultivation, sponsorship development, grant proposal development, tracking and reporting
• Experience in recruiting, developing and retaining staff, including a wide variety of volunteers

Additional Knowledge and Expertise:
• Experience with nonprofit organizations
• Experience in working with a nonprofit board of directors, either as a board member or staff member
• Experience working with youth programs serving diverse demographics
